About this opportunity
The Joyce Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Joyce M. Brown, a dedicated nurse who worked at the Medical Center of Central Georgia (now Navicent Health) and became the head of the Cancer Center. The scholarship supports nursing students pursuing their educational dreams, as Joyce had done throughout her career. The fund was created by her husband, Michael Brown, to continue her legacy of dedication to the medical field and philanthropic interest in education.
This scholarship is specifically designed to provide employees of Navicent Health an opportunity to further their education and achieve success in the nursing profession. The scholarship awards $500 per year for up to 2 years to students pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree in Nursing at Middle Georgia State University or Wesleyan College.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic ability, a caring attitude, high moral character, and a willingness to succeed in the nursing profession. Preference is given to students who are working or plan to work at Navicent Health. Recipients must be formally accepted into the nursing program and into a clinical rotation at a Navicent Health Facility before the scholarship is awarded.
The scholarship emphasizes the Browns' commitment to education and provides one award per year, with preference given to renewal applicants. Prior recipients are eligible to renew the award for up to four years if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
