About this opportunity

The J.W. and Martha Whipple Scholarship was established to honor a lifelong bond between the Whipple and Miller families. J.W. and Martha Whipple, both graduates of Wilkinson County High School, built a life of hard work, commitment, and service to their community. Presented to the Whipples in 2011, this scholarship reflects the deep ties between two families and their shared belief in supporting the next generation. The scholarship provides college funding for graduating seniors at Wilkinson County High School who plan to attend an accredited public or private college, university, or technical school to pursue an undergraduate degree. The award may be used to pay for tuition, books, fees, supplies, and room and board. Applicants are selected based on their overall performance in school and their ability to balance academics, school and community activities, and personal responsibilities to achieve a well-rounded experience. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled as full-time students. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years for prior recipients who maintain eligibility criteria. The scholarship awards $500 annually with four total recipients, selecting one new recipient each year. It is awarded to students who exemplify strong character, academic dedication, and well-rounded involvement—qualities that the Whipples and Millers have long cherished.
