About This Opportunity

The Kelliher Economics Foundation (KEF) was established in 1964 by Sir Henry Kelliher, a prominent New Zealand businessman and philanthropist. Sir Henry was deeply committed to enhancing the economic understanding and wellbeing of New Zealanders. Over time, KEF, funded by the Kelliher Charitable Trust, has evolved to support higher-level thinking in economics through postgraduate and postdoctoral research at New Zealand universities and research groups. This undergraduate scholarship programme aims to extend KEF's support to students at the beginning of their academic journey in economics. By providing financial assistance and development opportunities to students, KEF seeks to encourage talented students to pursue studies in economics, support students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to contributing to New Zealand's economic wellbeing, and foster a new generation of economists equipped to address the country's economic challenges. The scholarship provides up to $10,000 per annum towards fees for up to three years for students majoring in Economics at the Wellington School of Business and Government. Eligible applicants must either be current first year students enrolled at the Wellington School of Business and Government, majoring in Economics, or incoming school leaver students intending to enrol at the Wellington School of Business and Government, majoring in Economics. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. Selection is based primarily on academic merit, with secondary consideration given to the applicant's demonstrated interest in economics and potential to contribute to New Zealand's economic development.
