Kendrick Smithyman Scholarship in Poetry

The Kendrick Smithyman Scholarship in Poetry was established in 2009 through the generosity of the family of Kendrick Smithyman, to encourage the study and/or practice of poetry. This scholarship provides up to $7,000 for students enrolled full-time in Stage III of a Bachelor of Arts, a BA(Hons), PGDipArts, MA or Master of Creative Writing which includes the study of poetry. The scholarship is offered annually with one or more awards available each year. The tenure of the scholarship is one year and it is designed to provide financial assistance to both international and domestic students pursuing advanced studies in poetry at the University of Auckland.
