Kevin Murtagh Memorial Soccer Awards

The Kevin Murtagh Memorial Soccer Awards are awarded annually to University of Alberta undergraduate students who are members of the Golden Bear Soccer Team. The awards recognize a high level of excellence in soccer, demonstrated potential to develop as a significant contributor to the Golden Bears Soccer program in the future, and outstanding contributions to the team both on and off the field. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic standing of at least 2.0 on 18 units of course weight and be eligible for competition in the year of the award. Preference is given to athletes not already receiving other athletic awards. This award was created by the Golden Bears Soccer Alumni in memory of Kevin Murtagh, a former member of the Golden Bear Soccer Team who passed away as a result of Lou Gehrig's disease. The award encourages and financially assists soccer players in the pursuit of their academic and athletic careers at the University of Alberta.
