About This Opportunity

The Kevin Pengelly Memorial Scholarship is offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors - Edmonton Chapter with the purpose of inspiring students and professionals from diverse disciplines to join the Internal Audit profession. The scholarship awards two scholarships of $1,000.00 each to aspiring future leaders in the Internal Audit profession. The scholarship is specifically designed to support individuals pursuing professional certifications in internal audit, including IAP (Internal Audit Practitioner) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designations. Award recipients must use the funds for study material purchase or exam registration for these certifications, with evidence of use required within 2 years after receiving the scholarship. Eligibility is open to two categories: post-secondary students currently attending Edmonton area institutions with a minimum 2.8 GPA, and experienced professionals with post-secondary credentials and at least one year of work experience who are currently pursuing an internal audit designation. Selection is based on academic achievement, initiative, community involvement, and demonstration of professionalism, integrity, ethics, and leadership. Selected candidates will be formally recognized at the IIA's Annual General Meeting. The application requires transcripts, a cover letter or resume, and either an essay (300-500 words) or video (2-3 minutes) addressing career inspiration, certification goals, and the significance of the scholarship to the applicant.
