About This Opportunity
The Kilgallioch Community Fund is part of the Kilgallioch Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, provided by ScottishPower Renewables from their Kilgallioch Windfarm. Approximately £475,000 is available for distribution each year to support community-led charitable activities that support the rural regeneration and sustainability of communities in Wigtownshire and South Carrick. The fund supports projects located within or directly benefiting Wigtownshire, Dumfries & Galloway and South Carrick, South Ayrshire. Projects must benefit one or more of the communities, which are geographically defined by community council boundaries. Grant sizes range from £500 to over £100,000, with three categories: Small Grants (£500-£5,000), Standard Grants (£5,001-£20,000), and Large Grants (£20,000+). Large grants follow a two-stage process and can include up to £5,000 in development funding to support Stage 2 project development. The fund awards can support a wide range of costs and activities, though priority is given to one-off or new projects over ongoing running costs, and to groups that have not previously been funded. Priority is given to applications that address one or more of the following aims: engage and empower young people, increase employment opportunities for young people and/or attract young families to the area; reduce poverty and disadvantage; improve connectivity, including transport, access to services and opportunities; improve quality of life, health and well-being; build capacity for local groups and promote community spirit; build sustainable community assets, including capital assets; and promote, protect and celebrate natural and cultural heritage. Additional criteria include community engagement and consultation, leverage or match funding, local procurement, sustainability, building community capacity, and partnership working.
