About this opportunity
Granted to the graduating student with the highest grade point average over the four years of study in the Kinesiology program. This award was established by Interim Dean of Science and Applied Human Sciences professor Dr. Katherine Gottschall-Pass and Dr. Dany MacDonald, Chair of the UPEI Applied Human Sciences Department. Dr. Gottschall-Pass obtained her BSc (Nutrition & Consumer Studies) from St. Francis Xavier University, a Dietetic Internship from Victoria Hospital in London, ON and a PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a Registered Dietitian who worked in research and development for the food industry and taught at St. Francis Xavier University prior to joining the Department of Applied Human Sciences in 1996. Dr. MacDonald is dedicated to Kinesiology, specifically in the field of positive youth development through sport. He is interested in how we can use sport as a vehicle to teach children positive skills and values (such as responsibility, initiative, and confidence) they will be able to use for the rest of their lives.
