About this opportunity

The Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Scholarship is a foundation scholarship offered by Federation University Australia to support Indian international students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in STEM fields. Named after Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, a distinguished alumna who graduated from the Ballarat College of Advanced Education in 1975 with a Graduate Diploma in Malting and Brewing and received an honorary Doctorate of Science in 2004, this scholarship honors her pioneering contributions to biotechnology and entrepreneurship. Dr Mazumdar-Shaw is a first-generation entrepreneur, recipient of India's prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards, and founder of Biocon, India's publicly listed biopharmaceutical company that serves customers in over 85 countries. The scholarship was first awarded in 2017 and provides financial support to enable access to quality education in science, technology, engineering or mathematics at Federation University's Mt Helen Campus in Ballarat.
