Koala Indigenous Scholarship in Design

The Koala Indigenous Scholarship in Design provides comprehensive financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking undergraduate studies in Design at the University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. The scholarship is funded by a donation from Koala AU Operations Pty Ltd and aims to enable the next generation of Indigenous designers. The scholarship offers substantial support valued at $45,500 per annum, covering three key areas: academic course fees up to $12,000 per annum, living expenses support of $8,500 per annum, and up to $25,000 per annum towards University of Sydney owned or associated accommodation. This comprehensive package is designed to remove financial barriers and enable Indigenous students to focus on their design education. Recipients are selected based on academic merit (HSC performance for recent school leavers or WAM/SAM for current students), a personal statement demonstrating interest and motivation in their chosen course, and confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity. The scholarship is tenable for the full duration of the undergraduate degree, up to a maximum of 4 years of full-time study. To maintain the scholarship, recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester and remain enrolled full-time in an eligible undergraduate Design degree at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning.
