About this opportunity

This grant program provides funding for printing and publishing books within the field of cultural heritage (kulturvern). The purpose is to stimulate the publication of books that increase knowledge about history, art, cultures and social life in Norway up to the present day. The program particularly aims to include more voices, strengthen diversity and increase breadth in cultural heritage preservation. The program supports books that document and make visible indigenous peoples, minorities and various marginalized and underrepresented groups' history, cultural heritage and conditions; books that communicate and document intangible cultural heritage and traditional knowledge and practice; books that explore cultural heritage's societal role; and books that reflect on power structures in a historical context. The program is directed toward publishing houses and supports printing costs. Applicants can receive up to half of the printing costs in support. The books must have a scope that extends beyond the local and regional level, and most publications that receive support thematize cultural, social, economic or political phenomena.
