Kupe Leadership Scholarship

The Kupe Leadership Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by philanthropic donors after seed investment by the McCall MacBain Foundation. The scholarship provides exceptional support for postgraduate students pursuing full-time study in bachelors (honours) degrees, postgraduate diplomas, or masters degrees at the University of Auckland. The intention of the scholarship is to encourage and support exceptional students with a view to developing the next generation of leaders in New Zealand. Each scholar receives comprehensive financial support including accommodation and/or a stipend up to a value of around $25,000, plus compulsory fees. Beyond financial assistance, scholars are matched with a mentor from the community who is a leader in their field to advise, challenge, and guide them as they complete their study. Scholars also participate in a bespoke Leadership Development Programme designed to cultivate their leadership capabilities and prepare them for future leadership roles in New Zealand.
