About this opportunity
The Kyle Block Scholarship is awarded in memory of Kyle Alfonso Block, known for his quick wit, kind heart and adventurous spirit. After graduating from William Aberhart High School, Kyle attended the University of British Columbia where he achieved top honours in Engineering and Economics, and went on to study law at the University of Saskatchewan. Kyle had a passion for hockey and music and believed strongly in equal opportunity for all.
The scholarship assists worthy recipients to pursue post-secondary studies who are or have been active in competitive sport, music, fine arts or social issues. The award is valued at $2,500 and is offered to one recipient annually.
Eligible applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents studying engineering, business or law (Juris Doctor) at a qualified post-secondary institution in Alberta, Saskatchewan or British Columbia. Applicants must be enrolled in second year of study or beyond, demonstrate financial need, maintain good academic standing (GPA greater than or equal to 2.7 or 70%), and show involvement past or present in competitive sports, music, fine arts or social justice issues.
