About this opportunity

The Kype Muir Community Fund is a wind farm community benefit fund administered by Point North on behalf of OnPath Energy. The fund supports local community groups, voluntary organisations, and environmental projects that fight poverty and enrich lives within the boundaries of the Kype Muir wind farm, located south of Strathaven. The fund serves communities in Strathaven & Glassford, Stonehouse, Lesmahagow, Sandford and Upper Avondale community councils, and Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill and Boghead community council areas in South Lanarkshire. Projects outside these areas may be considered if they can demonstrate benefit to local people from these locations. The fund supports a wide range of activities including promotion of energy efficiency, environmental protection and nature conservation, health and wellbeing initiatives, regeneration projects, improvements to community facilities, education and training facilities and equipment, and social welfare activities such as events, trips, lunch clubs and food banks. Eligible applicants include community groups, voluntary organisations, playgroups, youth clubs, church and village halls, sports clubs, Scout and Guide Movement, environmental projects, clubs for senior citizens, and schools for non-statutory projects. Applicants must follow a three-stage process: first discussing the project with their Community Council representative, then submitting an Expression of Interest form to Point North for initial review, and finally submitting a full application if invited. Decisions are typically made within 12 weeks of completed applications. The fund does not support religious advancement, political activities, statutory authority responsibilities, retrospective funding, or salary costs.
