Lacombe County Scholarship for Rural Students

The Lacombe County Scholarship for Rural Students supports full-time students enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program at Red Deer Polytechnic. This scholarship is designed to assist Canadian Citizens or landed immigrants who are continuing their studies in the subsequent year of their program. The scholarship demonstrates a commitment to supporting students from rural backgrounds and those pursuing careers in specific fields. Preference is given to current or former Lacombe County residents who are pursuing careers in Agriculture or Agri-Business, Environmental and Conservation Sciences, or Veterinary Medicine. Secondary preference is provided to students with a rural background more generally. The award aims to reduce financial barriers for rural students seeking higher education in these critical fields. Recipients are selected based on a combination of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Students are automatically considered for this scholarship upon completing the General Application through Red Deer Polytechnic's scholarship portal. The scholarship provides $1,850 to one recipient annually, helping to offset the costs of tuition, books, and living expenses during their studies.
