About this opportunity
This scholarship is funded by a bequest from Lady Persia Elspbeth Galleghan OBE, to support an outstanding student undertaking a master's by research or Doctor of Philosophy in the area of Australian Literature. The scholarship provides a stipend allowance of $45,000 per annum for students enrolled full-time in English and Writing at the University of Sydney. Lady Galleghan was a generous benefactor to the University, especially in her support for Australian Literature. She also enabled the establishment of the Herbert Blaiklock Memorial Lecture, named after her father, and honouring the poet Henry Kendall. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, area of study and/or research proposal, and previous research experience. Recipients must conduct research specifically in the field of Australian Literature within the School of Art, Communication and English.
