About this opportunity
For the thirty-third year, Lars Salviusföreningen distributes scholarships and project grants to authors and publishers, as well as an annual prize for outstanding contributions in research communication and popular science. The foundation is named after Lars Salvius, an educated, language-interested, and innovative printer from the 18th century who modernized Swedish spelling and grammar, was a publisher for the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and published the scientific weekly journal Lärda tidningar. The funding comes from compensation for copying pages from Swedish and foreign works at Swedish universities and colleges, managed through the higher education agreement. A smaller portion of this compensation, related to copying from scientific journals and other particularly copy-sensitive material, is jointly administered by Sveriges Författarförbund, Svenska Förläggareföreningen, and Sveriges Tidskrifter through Lars Salviusföreningen. Authors and publishers who are not members of the founding organizations have the same right as members to apply for and receive scholarships and project grants from the association, as well as to be designated as recipients of the annual prize.
