About this opportunity
The Laura Cauty Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a returning student with a declared major or minor in Computer Science who has an overall average of 70% or greater. This scholarship was created in memory of Laura Kathleen Alexis Cauty, who was born on December 28, 1982, and passed away on September 18, 2007 after being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Laura was intelligent, motivated, and loved children. She earned her GED, completed a Business Information Technology program at Holland College, and obtained her A+ Certification and Certified Novell Administrator diplomas. After graduating in 2004, she attended UPEI with the goal of majoring in Business Administration and was hired by Research in Motion in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2006. Laura was passionate about information technology and possessed strong communication skills that she used to assist others with computer problems. This scholarship was created to support students with similar qualities and interests in achieving their academic and career goals. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate the strength, determination, dedication, and perseverance that Laura exhibited throughout her life and academic career.
