Lawrence J. Pizzano Scholarship

The Lawrence J. Pizzano Memorial Scholarship pays tribute to Larry, a young man who left us much too soon, but who taught us what it means to put others before oneself, to give without thought of personal gain. An active member of the campus community, Larry combined his academic pursuits with service to others through participation in Lambda Sigma and by tutoring his peers. He also expressed his personal interests in his guitar playing and through his WSBK radio show. Most of all, Larry brought joy with his smile and his generous spirit. This memorial scholarship celebrates Larry's life and applauds a student who exemplifies Larry's values. The scholarship is available to students enrolled full-time at Westfield State University who have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Qualified applicants must also make active use of the service provided by disabilities services through the Banacos Academic Center. Applicants are required to provide a 300-word essay detailing how they reflect Larry's values in their daily life. This scholarship honors a student who demonstrates service to others, generosity of spirit, and academic commitment while utilizing disability support services.
