About this opportunity
The Leah Patricia O'Grady Memorial Award is presented annually to a third-year nursing student in good academic standing who has demonstrated exceptional competence and compassion while caring for elderly patients during the course N323, Developing Partnerships with Clients and Families living with Chronic Illness, or its successor course. This award was established by Dr. Brendan O'Grady in memory of his wife of fifty-five years, the late Leah Patricia (Brothers) O'Grady, a graduate of Prince of Wales College in 1942. Dr. and Mrs. O'Grady were deeply impressed with the care Mrs. O'Grady received from UPEI nursing students who attended to her needs as part of their UPEI studies. Mrs. O'Grady passed away on October 14, 2006. The award honors her memory and recognizes nursing students who exemplify the same dedication and compassion in their care of elderly patients.
