About this opportunity
The Ledwell-Duffy Memorial Award in Philosophy is awarded to the Philosophy student entering fourth year who has the highest standing overall in Philosophy. This scholarship was established at the University of Prince Edward Island by Frank and Carolyn (Duffy) Ledwell in memory of their parents, Annie and Earl Duffy and Tom and Anna Ledwell. The award honors the memory of families dedicated to education, service, and community contribution. Annie Duffy was a teacher who graduated from Prince of Wales College in 1928, while Earl Duffy was a World War I veteran and potato farmer. Tom Ledwell served in World War I and was decorated with the Military Medal for bravery, while Anna Ledwell had diverse creative skills. The families' commitment to education and community service is reflected in this memorial award for Philosophy students.
