About this opportunity

The Georg Hørsdal and Olivia Legacy provides financial assistance to blind or severely visually impaired students studying music or theology. Established through the will of Georg Hørsdal after his death in 1982, the legacy honors his life as a blind organist and piano technician in Arendal. Georg Hørsdal lost his sight at age 11 in an explosion accident and went on to study music, becoming an organist at Barbu church for 30 years and a piano technician. The fund was accepted by Arendal municipality in 1982 with an initial capital of approximately 500,000 NOK. In 2025, the legacy has 65,000 NOK available for distribution, split into two stipends of 32,500 NOK each - one for a music student and one for a theology student. Applications are accepted annually with a deadline of October 31st, and the application period opens in late August each year.
