About This Opportunity
The Leo Cheverie Legacy Award is granted to a returning international student who is making great contributions to the lives of their fellow students and/or the wider community through volunteerism, cultural activities, and/or activism. Preference will be given to qualifying candidates in the greatest financial need. This award honors Leo Cheverie, who came to UPEI in 1980 and joined the library staff in 1985 as a library technician. He was known for his genuine interest in helping students, staff, and faculty, and was one of the early supporters and leaders of the World University Service of Canada initiative at UPEI. Leo was politically active, community-minded, a life-long learner, a strategic thinker and organizer, and an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and international communities around the world.
