About this opportunity
The Leo H. Brooks Scholarship Fund provides college scholarships for graduates of the public school system of Coffee County, Georgia. Established in honor of Leo H. Brooks, who dedicated thirty-three years to education in Coffee County and served on the Coffee County Board of Education, this scholarship reflects his life-long interest in supporting educational activities for young people. The scholarship may be used to pay for tuition, books, fees, supplies, and room and board at an accredited two or four-year college or university.
Applicants are selected based on scholastic merit (average to above-average academic performance), personal character, financial need, and potential to succeed as indicated by grades, evidence of overcoming adversity, and participation in school, community, or religious organizations. Priority is given to students who are not eligible for the HOPE scholarship. The award is renewable for up to four years for recipients who maintain satisfactory academic progress with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and continue as full-time students.
Recipients must be graduating seniors or recent graduates of Coffee High School or other public high schools operated by the Coffee County Board of Education who matriculate to college immediately following high school graduation. Preference for the single annual award is given to renewal applicants, ensuring continuity of support for students already pursuing their educational goals.
