About this opportunity
The Leo Howard Memorial Bursary is an annual scholarship awarded to undergraduate engineering students at The University of Queensland who demonstrate both financial hardship and academic achievement. Students must be enrolled full-time in a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Honours/Master of Engineering, or an Engineering dual program, and have completed between 12-18 units of study.
Established in 1978 by a bequest from the late Leo Howard, PhD A.N.U., BSc, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at The University of Queensland, the bursary was created with funds raised by his friends to augment his bequest for the purpose of creating a suitable memorial to him. The scholarship is designed to support engineering students facing financial difficulties while maintaining strong academic performance.
The Associate Dean (Academic) determines the value of the scholarship each year, and one award is typically granted. Selection is based on demonstrated financial hardship and academic achievement. Shortlisted applicants may be contacted for an interview before final decisions are made.
