About this opportunity
The LGBTQA Alumni Scholarship supports students at Eastern Illinois University who demonstrate a commitment to LGBTQA advocacy and inclusion. This scholarship gives preference to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to the elimination of discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning persons; have been socially marginalized principally by reason of sexual orientation, HIV status, gender identity or gender expression; or demonstrate a commitment to increasing the level of tolerance, acceptance and respect of all persons regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Recipients must be full-time students with a minimum 3.00 GPA, and financial need is a consideration. The scholarship is available to students at all levels including freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate students. The selection committee considers leadership roles in relevant organizations, individual risks taken in furtherance of the applicant's commitment, and the potential for continued commitment through public service or leadership. This award is announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall semester.
