About This Opportunity

The Lillian & Willis Leenhouts Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SARUP) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee who have demonstrated academic merit and a record of service to the school. The scholarship prioritizes students who demonstrate interest in the success of women and/or diverse communities, including their influences as they relate to the built environment. Preferred recipients express forward ideas about the future of the profession, its roles and responsibilities, and exhibit leadership potential. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to be positive ambassadors for the scholarship and seek to explore alternative design philosophies that enhance and relate to its purpose. The application requires submission of a portfolio highlighting one or two academic projects or related works, not exceeding seven pages, in print PDF format. The narrative component is weighted more heavily than the portfolio in the evaluation process. This scholarship supports students pursuing architecture and urban planning studies who are committed to advancing inclusive design practices and demonstrating leadership in their field. Recipients are expected to show both academic excellence and meaningful engagement with the school community.
