About this opportunity
This CASE (Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering) studentship is offered through the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP) in collaboration with the MRC Centre for Environment and Health. The research project focuses on the impact of fiscal measures to support fuel and living costs on winter health in England, conducting a nationwide analysis from 1997 to 2025. The successful candidate will undertake quantitative research to explore the effects of support interventions on community health during winter, examining how cold weather impacts the UK population's health and investigating community-level vulnerability factors. The project will analyze national and local schemes that support UK households with fuel bills during winter, including the Energy Bill Support Scheme, Winter Fuel Payments, Cold Weather Payment, Household Support Fund, Cost of Living Payment, and Warm Home Discount Scheme. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in public health, climate change, and public policy research.
