Llais y Lle: Community Organisations

Arts Council of Wales Original Source

About This Opportunity

Llais y Lle (Voice of Place) is a fund for community organisations in Wales that aims to place Cymraeg (Welsh language) and Cymreig culture at the centre of community creativity. Following the success of the fund for individuals, this opportunity extends to organisations rooted within their communities in Wales. The central challenge is: How can we place Cymraeg and the culture of Cymraeg at the centre of community creativity by encouraging ownership and use of them? The fund empowers Welsh and Welsh cultural voices within their communities by working closely with creative practitioners and community members to develop the use and ownership of Welsh language and to celebrate Welsh culture. Applicants are encouraged to discover creative ways of working and lay a solid foundation for future development. The fund focuses on three priority areas: Cymraeg (Welsh language), Creativity, and Community. Organizations are not expected to know the outcome of their work when applying, as the fund respects the importance of creating spaces for discovering and trialling creative activities. A high proportion of the activity budget should fund creative individuals to work within the community. The fund welcomes creative ideas for the development of Welsh language within any community in Wales, whatever their current relationship with the language.
