About this opportunity
The LMS Undergraduate Research Bursaries in Mathematics provide support for undergraduate students to gain research experience and encourage them to consider a career in scientific research. The awards support students undertaking research projects during the summer vacation, providing a weekly stipend for projects lasting between 6-8 weeks full-time or 12-16 weeks part-time. The bursaries are administered through UK universities and research institutions, with match-funding requirements from the host institutions. Students must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study in mathematics or statistics and be planning to continue their mathematics education. The scheme is designed to give students with research potential hands-on experience working on clearly defined research projects under academic supervision, with regular meaningful person-to-person contact and teaching in research skills and communication.
