About this opportunity
The Louis Cha Scholarship is awarded thanks to a generous donation by the late martial arts writer and philanthropist Dr Louis Cha, who studied for his PhD at St John's College at the age of 81 from 2005-2010. This scholarship is specifically designated for research in the literature, history and culture of early and dynastic China (pre-1912). The award is available to postgraduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees at St John's College, University of Cambridge. The scholarship covers fees for both Home and International students as well as maintenance costs. One award is available per year for successful applicants who demonstrate academic merit. The duration ranges from nine months to three years depending on the type of course undertaken. Recipients may be asked to provide an annual report on their research for the College.
