Louise Brown Memorial Award in Nursing

The Louise Brown Memorial Award in Nursing is awarded to a Nursing student who demonstrates exceptional leadership and mentorship qualities. The award honors Louise Brown (1914-2007), a dedicated nursing professional who exemplified leadership, intellect, and professionalism throughout her 44-year nursing career. Born in Rollo Bay, PEI, Louise began as a teacher before entering nursing in 1936. She served with distinction in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and later became the evening Supervisor at the PEI Hospital, where she mentored many young nurses. After retiring in 1983, she continued to volunteer at the hospital for 20 more years, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to nursing excellence.
