Louise Murray Award for Children's Literature

The Louise Murray Award for Children's Literature is an annual award presented to students at Eastern Illinois University who demonstrate excellence in creative writing for young audiences or critical analysis of children's literature. The award recognizes students with a declared major in English or Education, or any English minor, who have been accepted to Eastern Illinois University. Recipients are selected based on the quality of their submitted work, which can include original writing for children or young adults in genres such as poetry, picture books, short fiction, or novel excerpts, or critical writing about children's or young adult literature. This award celebrates outstanding literary achievement and encourages students pursuing careers in children's literature and education. The award is announced and disbursed in the Spring semester.
