About this opportunity

This scholarship provides financial assistance to undertake research in the history of philosophy with a special focus on the work on women philosophers in the long eighteenth and/or nineteenth centuries. The scholarship has been established to support a PhD student conducting research in this specialized area. This scholarship is funded by the Lucy Firth Bequest in support of a partnership grant awarded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and twelve partner institutions. The scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the minimum Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate for up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Review process

Selection based on academic merit, area of study and/or research proposal, curriculum vitae, cover letter describing interest in women philosophers and background in history of philosophy, writing sample (3,000 words or less), previous research experience, and references from two academic referees. Awarded on nomination of relevant research supervisor(s).
