About this opportunity
The Patricia A. Urban Memorial Scholarship was established at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County as a lasting tribute to Patricia Urban and her son, Philip. Patricia was a remarkable woman dedicated to her family, faith, education and community who worked as a parish secretary at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier for nearly 20 years. Her son Philip, who graduated from Ligonier Valley High School in 1976, established this scholarship program at his alma mater in memory of his mother before passing away in 2009. This multi-year scholarship celebrates the lives of Patricia and Philip through a lasting legacy that benefits Ligonier Valley High School graduates.
The scholarship is available to graduating students from Ligonier Valley High School who reside in the Ligonier Valley School District geographical area and plan to attend an accredited vocational or technical trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year university. Recipients must maintain active involvement in volunteer or community activities and demonstrate a commitment to education and giving back to others. The award reflects Patricia's values of hard work, education, and service to those less fortunate, continuing her legacy of community service and dedication to helping young people pursue their educational goals.
