About this opportunity

M-ERA.NET is an international joint call for research and innovation in advanced materials. The Research Council of Norway is offering up to 2.4 million euros for Norwegian researchers and industry to participate in international research collaboration within materials research. M-ERA.NET aims to strengthen the European Research Area (ERA) on advanced materials through annual joint calls that finance groundbreaking research, facilitate knowledge exchange, promote sustainable solutions in materials science, and encourage transnational collaboration between researchers, academia, industry and other stakeholders. The call covers six thematic areas: materials for energy storage and distribution systems, materials for energy conversion, innovative surfaces/coatings and interfaces, innovative functional materials with defined architectures, materials addressing environmental challenges, and next generation materials for electronics. Applications within energy-related themes are limited to renewable energy sources and associated energy storage, energy efficiency, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). Norwegian applicants can apply for between 50,000 and 475,000 euros (maximum 425,000 euros if only one Norwegian partner participates). The funded activities must fall under industrial research or experimental development as defined by EU state aid rules. Companies can apply for up to 50 percent support of approved project costs.
