About this opportunity
The Mackenzie King Scholarships were established as an independent trust under the will of the late Rt. Hon. William Mackenzie King (1874-1950) to support graduates of Canadian universities who are pursuing graduate studies. Two types of scholarships are available: The Travelling Scholarship is awarded to applicants with a degree from a Canadian university pursuing graduate studies in international or industrial relations in the United States or United Kingdom, with approximately four scholarships of $15,000 awarded annually. The Open Scholarship is awarded to an applicant with a degree from a Canadian university pursuing graduate studies in any discipline, within Canada or elsewhere, with one scholarship of approximately $13,000 awarded annually. Universities including the University of Toronto nominate candidates to the national competition, with U of T permitted to nominate two candidates from each category. The scholarships support students at an early stage of graduate programs (Years 1-3) who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement with a minimum grade of A- in all courses and are subject to a funding cap that limits total scholarship support to tuition plus $20,000 CAD.
