About this opportunity
Up to eleven (11) prizes will be available for returning undergraduate students who during the previous academic year (September 1 to August 31), have demonstrated writing excellence in a form outside of a university course and to a broader community-oriented audience. The MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing award program was established by the family of Harry and Marjorie MacLauchlan of Stanhope, PEI, to honour H. Wade MacLauchlan's twelve years of service as UPEI president and vice-chancellor and to recognize the importance of effective writing as a foundational skill for academic success and lifelong learning. The prizes represent the largest such student-oriented program in Canada and are designed to enrich the exceptional quality of education that UPEI offers its students and enhance their lifelong success. By celebrating writing excellence, these awards send a powerful signal regarding the collective importance of writing and serve as a catalyst for other university endeavours.
