About This Opportunity
The Magabala Fellowship is a mid-career scholarship designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers and writers who have previously published at least two books. The fellowship allows authors to work on a current manuscript, providing financial support to advance their writing projects. Magabala welcomes submissions of junior, young adult and adult fiction, poetry and memoir. Manuscripts may be in English, Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander language, or a combination of these, including bilingual texts. Note that children's picture book manuscripts are ineligible. Magabala Books reserves the first right of refusal to publish the completed work, though the fellowship payment is separate from any publishing contract.
