About this opportunity
The Major David L. Carter Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of Major David L. Carter, who served 21 years of active Federal military service and 22 years as a retired Officer, Teacher, and Mentor as Central High School Senior Army Instructor. Major Carter commanded one of the nation's largest and most distinguished JROTC units, founded the Southeastern Drill Meet, and served 18 years as a Macon City Councilman and later as Mayor. This scholarship provides annual college funding to graduating JROTC cadets from Central High School in Macon, Georgia who exemplify Major Carter's favorite quote: 'Maximum Emphasis Is On Everything!' Recipients must demonstrate excellence as well-rounded students through academics, extra-curricular activities, community service, part-time work, or service to others. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, supporting students throughout their undergraduate education at accredited two or four-year colleges, universities, or vocational schools.
