About this opportunity
The Manasota ASALH Scholarship Program was initiated in 1997 by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. One of the goals of the organization is to support Black youth in the pursuit of their educational aspirations. The awarding of this scholarship is a step in that direction. The program provides financial support ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 to graduating Black high school students who have been admitted to and enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be residents of Sarasota and Manatee County in Florida. The scholarship is merit-based and need-based, with 12-15 awards available annually. Some limited renewable scholarships are available based on the availability of funds and maintaining a 3.0 GPA during college.
