About this opportunity
The Mandela Scholarship Fund is intended for students from four South African partner universities (Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria and University of the Western Cape) who would like to study at Leiden University for one or two semesters as part of an exchange programme. The scholarship was founded by Leiden University in 1999 to commemorate the Honorary Doctorate awarded to President Nelson Mandela. The scholarship provides a living allowance and student insurance for the duration of the exchange period. Different amounts are available depending on the home university: students from University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, and University of the Western Cape receive €1,250 per month, while students from Stellenbosch University receive €625 per month. The scholarship supports one or two semester exchange programmes and includes Aon Student Insurance coverage. Applicants must be enrolled at one of the four specified South African universities, be pre-selected by their home university, and meet Leiden University's admission requirements for exchange students.
