About this opportunity
The Marilyn MacDonald Memorial Nursing Award is granted to a full-time student in 3rd or 4th year in the four-year Nursing Program at UPEI who has shown exceptional mentorship, leadership skills, and demonstrated dedication to compassionate care. These attributes were all shared with Marilyn MacDonald, in whose memory this award was established. The student will also be in financial need. Marilyn MacDonald (1957-2018) was born in Marshfield PEI and graduated from the PEI School of Nursing in 1979. Her career spanned 35 years at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she worked in various capacities including as a nurse manager. She was known for her ability to mentor others, her pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and her commitment to patients, staff, and their families. This award was established by her husband, Leo, as a tribute to the incredible life she lived professionally and personally.
