About This Opportunity

The Marion Macaulay Bequest Equity Travel Scholarship is funded by the Marion Macaulay Bequest to assist students to achieve their educational potential in the area of humanities. This scholarship was established to support students enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney who wish to undertake an approved exchange or short-term mobility program overseas but experience barriers to participation. The scholarship provides financial support to students experiencing financial hardship who intend to participate in University of Sydney Exchange programs or short-term mobility programs. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and a personal statement demonstrating financial hardship, detailing the type and duration of the exchange/mobility program, and providing a budget for overseas travel costs. Preference is given to students who can demonstrate financial hardship based on factors including Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity, low socio-economic status, carer responsibilities, long-term medical conditions/disability, sole-parent responsibilities, regional or remote disadvantage, refugee status, LGBTIQ+ identity, and/or being first in family. The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers to participation in international exchange and mobility programs for humanities students.
