About this opportunity
One scholarship, valued at up to $2,000, is awarded annually to an outstanding student who identifies as a woman entering first year in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo. This fund is made possible by a donation from Mrs. Marjorie Barber to honour the memory of her husband, Albert Sherwood Barber, P. Eng., LL.D. 'Bert' Barber played a major role in paving the way for the promotion and advancement of co-operative education in Canada and is widely recognized as the father of co-operative education in Canada. Mrs. Barber also established this award in order to promote engineering as a viable career for women who are entering university. To honour her memory, an additional donation was made by Barber's family, following her passing in 2011. Selection is based on academic performance, the Admission Information Form (AIF), and an online video interview.
