About this opportunity
The Marjorie Gwendolin Turner Scholarship supports postgraduate research students studying veterinary science and animal production in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. This scholarship was established in 2005 through a bequest from Marjorie Gwendolin Turner and specifically supports higher degree research students undertaking research in diseases and treatment of domestic animals within the Veterinary Hospital and Clinic in Sydney.
The scholarship may be awarded as either a primary or supplementary scholarship. As a primary scholarship, it provides an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) rate for up to 1.75 years for Masters by Research recipients or up to 3 years for PhD recipients, with a possible extension of up to 6 months for PhD students. As a supplementary scholarship for students already holding another primary scholarship, it provides $10,000 per annum for the same durations.
Applicants must have an offer of admission or be enrolled in full-time studies in a master's by research or PhD in the areas of veterinary science and animal production in the Faculty of Science, and must also apply for the Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship. The candidate's research area must focus on diseases of domestic animals and treatment in connection with the Veterinary Hospital and Clinic at the University of Sydney.
Selection is based on academic merit, area of study, and research proposal, with awards made by nomination of the relevant delegated officer in the School of Veterinary Science. The scholarship follows the Research Training Program application process with no separate application form required.
