About this opportunity
This scholarship fund was created in memory of Marjorie Williams Sawyer by her late son, Gene, who had Muscular Dystrophy and attended Mercer University. Gene became a CPA, lived frugally, and was a savvy investor. Both he and his mother were devoted members of Tattnall Square Baptist Church. The scholarship assists students who have financial need with studies on the college level, including business school, trade school, medical school, seminary or general college studies. Preference is given to applicants who have a physical handicap. The award amount varies and is renewable for up to five years in college, with at least one award given per year. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need, maintained a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA in high school or college, and must have attended high school and/or college in Bibb County, Georgia.
