About this opportunity
Together with the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, Folklorama presents the Mark & Dorothy Danzker Scholarship for Excellence, an annual award of excellence for ethno-cultural heritage preservation. The scholarship honours the memory of philanthropist and former Winnipeg city councillor Mark Danzker and his wife, Dorothy. Eight post-secondary scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded annually to students who demonstrate active involvement in preserving ethno-cultural heritage through volunteerism and/or employment. Eligible applicants must be accepted to or currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution within Canada with a full course load, be between 17 and 25 years of age, and be a resident of Manitoba for at least six months. Recipients are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to cultural preservation, academic achievement with a minimum 70% average or 2.5 GPA, and must not have previously received this scholarship. The awards are presented each September and support students pursuing various fields of study while maintaining their dedication to celebrating and preserving cultural diversity in their communities.
