About this opportunity
The Mark Martinez Scholarship was created by the Martinez Family to honor the life of Mark Martinez who passed away suddenly on April 17, 2017. A native of the Carbon Valley, Mark attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1992. This scholarship supports seniors at Frederick High School who wish to pursue a four-year college degree.
The scholarship provides up to $10,000 to support tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other direct educational expenses at an accredited four-year college or university. Award amounts are split between semesters. Mark was employed by the Town of Firestone and loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, sports, music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Applicants must be seniors at Frederick High School with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and no F's on their transcript. The scholarship honors Mark's charismatic personality and his devotion to family and community. Typically, 2 winners are selected annually, though the number of scholarships granted may vary from year to year.
