About this opportunity
The Marlene Thompson Atkielski & Donald Atkielski Memorial Scholarship is awarded to select School of Information Studies (SOIS) graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This scholarship specifically supports students enrolled in the Master's in Library and Information Science (MLIS) program who hold a teaching license within the State of Wisconsin and demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to pursuing a career as a school librarian or media specialist.
Eligible students must be enrolled part-time or full-time in the MLIS program and demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA. Academic merit is a key consideration, with applicants required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and earn at least a B grade in all core classes. Students must also maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the MLIS program.
To qualify, applicants must be registered for a minimum of 3 INFOST credits by May 1. The award amount varies and is provided through the UWM Foundation. The scholarship is made possible through the generous support of donor Marianne Thompson '73, honoring the legacy of Marlene Thompson Atkielski and Donald Atkielski.
